Sterling moves into the Software marketplace as the Great Britain Geospatial Distributor for Intergraph's ERDAS & GeoMedia

 

Sterling Geophysical Surveys Ltd part of Sterling Power Group has set about forming a Geospatial Software division following being announced as the Great Britain Geospatial Distributor for Intergraph’s leading geospatial product families, ERDAS & GeoMedia products.  Sterling will supplement Intergraph’s direct business in Great Britain, providing increases in coverage and the ability to exploit the combined imaging and GIS capabilities. The move brings about a new and exciting phase for Sterling Power Group as they look to exploit new markets and capabilities.

The division has been formed from the former ERDAS UK distribution team of Astrium Geoinformation Services (formally Infoterra, branded as Symetri Geo). The  team features key staff from the former ERDAS UK distributor, and comprises recognised experts experienced in applying geospatial technologies to industries that include: defence; homeland security; natural resources; government; and education. The team have over fifty years combined experience in the geospatial software field, the majority of which was gained working on real-world projects for companies throughout the geospatial industry.  Key personnel include Phil Cooper, Sterling Geospatial Software division Director & General Manager, formerly Head of Software at Astrium Geoinformation Services, Dr. Andy Wells, Business Development Director, and John Shannon, Software Technical Manager.

Dr Andy Wells recently joined the team from Astrium with the remit to develop the Geospatial Software and other related products within Sterling. He has a Doctorate in Remote Sensing from Aberystwyth, extensive experience in the Geospatial survey field and, as well as being recognised as one of the UK’s leading Geospatial experts Andy also brings a wealth of contacts and new clients to Sterling.
